1-on-1 Mentorship w/ Dr. Sharma

Are you a practicing family physician or resident in family medicine with an interest in a career in primary care psychotherapy? Looking for general, longitudinal support in identifying your niche within psychotherapy, which modalities to consider further study or training in and how to find your personal optimal fit in a focused practice in psychotherapy?

Looking for someone to bounce ideas off and to learn from their mistakes to expedite your own personal path of professional development? Struggling with feelings of overwhelm, analysis paralysis, uncertainty, impostor syndrome, or wanting support to feel more confident in your transition to a focused practice in psychotherapy?

If so, you are welcome to book a 1-on-1 Mentorship meeting whereby the two of us can review in detail any questions or concerns you may have relating to pursuing a focused practice in psychotherapy, making the transition away from a general practice, identifying personal learning gaps, and more.

You are welcome and encouraged to book periodic or ongoing meetings to review any issues discussed and to track the impact of any suggestions explored.

This service is available at an hourly rate and privacy compliant teleconferencing software is used for our confidential meetings.

You’ll benefit from longitudinal mentorship in enhancing your psychotherapy skills, identifying learning gaps, clarifying how to successfully make the transition to a focused practice, and in turn help you become a more confident physician-psychotherapist.

Ultimately, you help support my goal of increasing capacity within the community to more effectively provide psychotherapy within primary care across the country and to elevate the quality of mental health care provided within the medical system. It’s a Win-Win.

Mentorship meetings are focused on more general inquiries relating to successfully navigating a transition to a focused practice in psychotherapy, identifying personal learning gaps and strategies to address them, the logistics of setting up a psychotherapy practice, and personal, collegial support in working toward feeling more ready to make the transition to a practice in psychotherapy, etc. Mentorship meetings do not include the discussion of patient cases. A separate meeting for case consultation would be required and that can be done here. Mentorship meetings are not for personal therapy.

Yes. I am available as a support to family physicians practicing comprehensive care who would like mentorship even if they do not intend on transitioning to a focused practice in psychotherapy.

Yes, we can meet and I can provide mentorship as I would for physician colleagues.

After receiving a notification that a meeting has been booked via this calendar link, I will followup with you to discuss rates for 1-on-1 mentorship meetings as this won’t be covered by AHCIP and payment will be required upfront at the time of confirming the booking in order to proceed with our meeting. This also applies to nurse practitioners or other health professionals seeking mentorship located outside of Alberta.

You can contact me here for more detail.

Commit to a scheduled meeting time. Show up on time and ready to engage from a private and quiet location with a stable internet connection so we can have a distraction-free meeting and make the most of our time together to address all of your questions.

It is expected that mentees will commit to their scheduled time and provide advance notice (48 hrs) in the case of any unexpected need for cancellation. An open, curious, and engaged attitude is also expected in order to facilitate an effective dialogue.
